Description

I made a 2x3 mosaic of this subject last year.  My framing was fairly tight on the right side.  There's some interesting stuff to the right of the fish head, so this year I decided to add onto that mosaic.  After adding a couple panels to the right, I added a new row above to get the aspect ratio sane.  The resulting mosaic is a 3x4, my largest to date.

These big mosaics take a lot of time to acquire and process, but I really like the high resolution you get.  I like to really zoom in and explore.  Doing that with this mosaic, I found three tiny planetary nebulas that would have been otherwise been lost had I took this image with a lot less focal length to fit it into one frame.

IC 289 is located near the left edge in my image.  Here's a closeup.

If you want to see more detail, Hubble shot this target.

Just to the left of the Heart is the planetary nebula WeBo1, named after the discoverers.  It also goes by the catchy name PN G135.6+01.0.  When I first spotted it, I thought it might be some artifact in my OIII master, but other images of the Heart had it as well.  You can read more about it here.

And finally SH2-189, also cataloged as Abell 3 or PK 131+2.1.
